DISTRICT 1070 PHOTOGRAPHIC COMPETITION.

COMPETITION RULES

This competition is organised by the Rotary Club of Blaby Meridian [hereafter referred to as the organisers] on behalf of Rotary District 1070.

This competition is open to Rotarians in District 1070 only. Entrants warrant that they are not professional photographers and that any submitted photographs do not infringe the copyright, privacy rights or any other rights of any person, organisation or company.

There is an entry fee of £5 and for this entrants may submit up to three photographs. Cheques should be payable to the Rotary Cub of Blaby Meridian.

All proceeds of the competition will be donated to The Rotary Foundation.

There are two themes – one is “Rotary the World Over” and the other is “any category” i.e. photographs can be submitted on any subject. Entries may be for one theme or a combination of the two but each photograph should indicate the selected theme.

Entries may be submitted un-mounted on any photographic material. Maximum size per print of A4 and minimum 7” x 5”. Alternatively, entry may be submitted digitally either on CD or by email.

Submitted entries must be the entrant’s own photographs and taken by them.

Please note that entrants should obtain and retain consent from any identifiable individuals who appear in the photographs prior to submitting them.

Obscene or inappropriate photographs will be rejected and the organisers reserve the right to reject any photographs for any reason.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

1. All information detailing how to enter this competition, including the Competition Rules, forms part of these terms and conditions. It is a condition of entry that all rules are accepted as final and that the competitor agrees to abide by these rules. The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Submission of an entry will be taken to mean acceptance of these terms and conditions.

2. Judges will be nominated by the organisers.

3. Entries should be submitted to:

Posted entries should be labelled on the reverse with their name, address, telephone number and Rotary Club name. Entries issued electronically should incorporate this information in the covering email. Please state the title of the image and the theme selected. Posted entries will only be returned if a suitable stamped addressed envelope is provided.

4. All entries must be received by 28 February 2010 with an entry form and fee attached for posted entries whilst for digital images, please forward the entry fee to Mike Ward at the address shown above.

5. All entrants must be amateur photographers. Entries from professional photographers will not be accepted. All images submitted must be the work of the individual submitting them and must not have been published elsewhere or have won a prize in any other photographic competition. It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that any images they submit have been taken with the permission of the subject and do not infringe the copyright of any third party or any laws.

6. Copyright in all images submitted for this competition remains with the respective entrants. However, in consideration of their entering the Competition, each entrant grants Rotary International in Britain and Ireland and the organisers the right to feature any or all of the submitted images in any of their publications, their websites and/or in any promotional material.

7. One entry consists of up to 3 photographs. Multiple entries will be accepted with the appropriate fee and entry form. Late, illegible, incomplete, defaced or damaged entries will not be accepted. No responsibility can be accepted for lost entries and proof of postage will not be accepted as proof of receipt. Entries must not be sent through agencies or third parties. Entries will not be accepted without the application form and entry fee.

8. One winning entry and two runner-up entries will be chosen from all entries received. The winners will be notified within 14 days of the judging date of the competition.

9. The winner will receive the Rotary District 1070 Photography Award and the runners up will receive commemorative awards. The organisers reserve the right to select an alternative winner if any entry is deemed to be in breach of these rules.

10. The winners may be required to take part in publicity.

11. Events may occur that render the competition itself or the awarding of the prizes impossible due to reasons beyond the control of the organisers and accordingly the organiser may at its absolute discretion vary or amend the promotion and the entrant agrees that no liability shall attach to the organiser as a result thereof.
